Danucera Diaries
Entry 32: Jenny Mollen
Tell us more about yourself…
I’m Jenny Mollen. I’m an author and a comedian, and I live in New York City. I’m genuinely obsessed with walking, and I will confidently eat a salad with my hands. I also love a good deep dive into vintage watches. I’m a proud poodle mother, and I have two sons who basically control my life physically and psychologically. Haha.
What Danucera product are you reaching for most as you head into the new year, and what does it do for your skin that you truly notice?
Jenny: It’s definitely Cream Supreme and the Luxera body cream. To be honest, I need the body cream as much as I need the face cream right now. I’m so dry. Also, I have a hyperthyroid, so I feel like my skin is always dry. Especially my body, so I’m right now just going through jars of that stuff. I can’t get enough.
" The goal is no longer youth. It's good, healthy skin."

Q: What do you love about the Danucera 5-Step Routine, especially on busy weekdays when you want something low maintenance but still feel like you’re taking care of yourself?
Jenny: "Well, I feel like for me, using these types of products gives me a sense of security. I don’t take a lot of time for self-care, even though on my Instagram it looks like I do. It looks like I’m all over the place, investigating all these different beauty rituals, but Monday through Friday, typically, I’m just sitting at a desk writing.
Taking time out feels like taking a thousand words off my day, and I can’t really afford to do that. So I need something low maintenance, but I still need to know I’m actually taking care of myself. I don’t want to fully drop the ball, and these products allow me to have the best of both worlds. I get to live in that duality where I’m a lady of leisure, but still able to accomplish what I want to accomplish, and I’m not weathering away and turning into a lizard person."
Q: If your skin could talk about new beginnings, what would it ask you for first: calm, hydration, or boundaries?
Jenny: "It would ask me for boundaries. It would ask me for a break. Because sometimes, when you’re doing a lot of film and TV, you’re wearing makeup all the time, so your skin doesn’t get to breathe as often as you want. It’s having to grapple with products and random ingredients that you don’t necessarily personally want on your skin, but your job requires it. So I think my skin, more than anything else, loves some boundaries and a break. Give me the good stuff, and let me chill."
Q: What daily rituals do you keep in your busy schedule?
Jenny: "Never go to bed without washing my face. Even if I'm exhausted from a night shoot and not getting home till 5 AM, I can't even lay down knowing I have makeup on my face. That’s why I use Cerabalm. It takes everything off, whether its makeup or environmental residue, while still being hydrating. Ritual number 2 is sunscreen, always."
What’s your relationship with trends, in beauty or in life? Are you more “try everything” or “stick to what works”?
I try everything. I've done the salmon sperm, the exosomes, all the lasers, and I can say, save your money. I don't think a lot of it works. I'm always hoping to find that panacea but i dont think it exists. At the end of the day, I always go back to the tried and true, the things I am convinced actually move the needle. Even my derm says the best thing is consistency. Your skin is a living thing and needs daily care.
What’s your non-negotiable “back on track” move when you feel off, and how does it change your mood?
Right now, the sauna. It's always been working out and sweating in some capacity. But lately I'm so exhausted, so the sauna makes me feel awake and alive!
What does “good skin” mean to you today compared to five years ago?
I’ve always been envious of women who don’t have acne. I never had it as a kid, but now I feel like I'm always battling one zit. I shoot it with cortisone and it always comes back. So, when I see a woman with good skin, I'm so envious. Even if she’s 15-20 years older. Being older is no longer a detriment to having good skin to me. The goal is no longer youth. It's good, healthy skin.
