Danucera Diaries

Entry 29: Loren Blank

Tell us a little about yourself?
"I'm a thirty three year old event and brand strategist based in Miami, Florida. I am originally from Philadelphia and moved to London for a few years before settling in Miami Beach with my husband, bernedoodle Billie and my two littles, Levi and Gloria. "

What is your favorite Danucera product and why?
"This is a tough one! If I had to pick, I'd say my favorite is the Cream Supreme. Even though I live in Miami, my skin can get pretty dry, and this cream is so rich and hydrating - it feels incredible when I put it on before bed. I am also obsessed with the Cerabalm (how can you not be?). It has so many uses and somehow does every single one of them really well! "

Q: What does hosting look like in your own home during the holidays?
Loren: Hosting at my home these days is definitely lively and a little chaotic - in the best way possible. With two little ones, the energy is high, so I try to keep things warm, welcoming and easy for everyone. This is the first holiday where my family is spending a significant amount of time close to us in Miami, so hosting has felt extra special. We've been constantly having everyone over for dinners and after-dinner hangs, which means a lot to me - I haven't lived in the same city as my parents since before I left for university. It's also been so sweet involving the kids. My two-year-old loves helping set the table and getting dinner ready (he's my little sous-chef). Having everyone together under one roof, sharing everyday moments, has made the holidays feel warmer and more meaningful than ever.

Q: Every family has its own rhythm this time of year. What traditions anchor your household and make everything feel a bit more magical for your kids?
Loren: Since having our kids, Hanukkah has become even more fun - we get to celebrate while also teaching them the story and traditions that make the holiday special. As it gets closer, we decorate our little 'Hanukkah bush' and pile gifts underneath it for all eight nights. This year, we even had a custom menorah made with both of their names on it so they feel included and excited to light the candles each evening. My son loves to cook, so I am especially looking forward to making jelly donuts together this year. I'm hoping it becomes one of those sweet traditions we get to repeat year after year.

The holidays can feel like a marathon for anyone, but especially for a mom of two with a full career. How do you keep your days grounded when the season speeds up?
"It really can get crazy. I feel so lucky to have such an amazing support system, especially as the holidays get closer. My family spends more time in Miami this time of year, so having them - my parents, my sister - along with my husband and our incredible nanny, makes such a difference. With all of them helping with the kids, I actually get the space to focus on my work and myself :)  "

Q: What’s the best advice you’ve learned about balance—not the perfect balance, but the realistic version that gets you through busy seasons?
Loren: Balance is hard, especially as the mom guilt sets in. I found that it's important to have designated time, whether that's during the week for work or Saturday's where I reserve the time to be present with the kids and stay off my phone.

Q: If you had to describe what you want this holiday season to feel like in one sentence, what would it be?
Loren: A cozy, slow and intentional time creating memories as a new family of 4 (well 5 really, including my dog)

Q: What’s one moment during the holiday season you always try to slow down and actually savor?
"When my entire family, including extended family all comes together for Christmas dinner. Especially now as all of us start having kids, it's really special to watch the next generation around the dinner table.  "

Q: You spend so much time creating special moments for others. What’s a small ritual you do for yourself that instantly resets your energy?
"Working out. Whether that includes going to the gym, a workout class or having a walk around my neighborhood I make sure to move my body in the morning as a way to get my day started and set the tone for the rest of the day. "
