Danucera Diaries

Entry 38: Elisa Marshall

Tell us about yourself?
I’m the founder and creative director of Maman, a café and lifestyle brand rooted in creating spaces that feel warm, nostalgic, and welcoming. I split my time between growing the business, dreaming up new ideas, and being a mom to two little boys, which means my days are full, fast, and always evolving. I’ve built my life around blending work and family rather than separating them, finding beauty in the everyday moments—whether that’s in our cafés, at home, or even in the small rituals I carve out for myself, like a simple, easy skincare routine that helps me feel put together no matter how busy the day gets.

Building something lasting takes so much resilience. Was there ever a moment when you felt close to giving up, and what carried you through it?
There have definitely been moments along the way—especially in the early days and during periods of fast growth—where things felt overwhelming and I questioned how to keep going. Building something lasting comes with a lot of pressure and responsibility, and it’s not always linear. What carried me through was a mix of belief in the vision, the community, customers & staff that continued to show up and support us, and my family. Becoming a mom also shifted everything for me—it gave me a deeper sense of purpose and perspective. I stopped striving for perfection and focused on progress, trusting that even small, consistent steps forward would add up over time.

"I’ve come to really value routines that are easy and efficient—like a quick, thoughtful skincare ritual with Danucera—because they create a sense of calm and normalcy in the middle of a demanding schedule."

Q: What does discipline look like for you when no one is watching?
Elisa: Honestly, discipline for me isn’t about rigid routines or getting everything perfectly right—it’s something I’m still working on. With a full schedule and two kids, there are plenty of moments when no one is watching and it would be easy to skip the small things. I’ve learned that I do best when things are simple and easy to follow, not overwhelming. For me, discipline looks like creating little systems that I can actually stick to—whether that’s taking a few minutes for myself in the morning, resetting at the end of a long day, or committing to small rituals that make me feel put together. I’ve realized it’s less about willpower and more about making things effortless enough that I’ll actually do them, even on the busiest days.

Q: Danucera is rooted in ritual, intention, and care. In your own life, what daily practices keep you grounded when everything around you feels demanding?

Elisa: "For me, that looks like a quiet moment in the morning before everything starts. Even if it’s just a few minutes, a coffee I actually sit down to enjoy, and small acts of care that help me feel like myself. I’ve come to really value routines that are easy and efficient—like a quick, thoughtful skincare ritual with Danucera—because they create a sense of calm and normalcy in the middle of a demanding schedule. It’s less about carving out a lot of time and more about being intentional with the little moments I do have."

Q: What do you hope the women who encounter your work feel, beyond what they see or buy?

Elisa: "I hope they feel a sense of beauty in the small, often overlooked details—the things that don’t shout for attention but quietly shape how a moment feels. A perfectly set table, a warm light, a thoughtful touch… those are the things that stay with you. More than anything, I want women to feel that life doesn’t have to be grand or perfect to be beautiful. That there’s so much to appreciate in the everyday, and that creating a sense of care and intention can be simple and within reach. If they walk away feeling a little more inspired to slow down, notice those details, and bring that kind of quiet beauty into their own routines, then that means everything."

Q: Which Danucera product feels the most like your personality — and why?
Elisa
: "I would say the Danucera Cerabalm feels the most like me. It’s simple, but incredibly hardworking—one product that does so many things at once. It’s a cleanser, a balm, a treatment… and it just fits seamlessly into your routine without overcomplicating it. That really mirrors how I live my life. I’m constantly balancing being a mom, running a business, and everything in between, so I gravitate toward things that are efficient but still thoughtful. I don’t have time for anything overly complicated, but I still care deeply about quality and intention. I love that it’s effortless but still delivers—it’s not about doing more, it’s about doing the right things, simply and well."

Q: Which Danucera product would live in your bag during a completely chaotic New York day?

Elisa: "I would keep the Danucera D7 Serum in my bag during a completely chaotic New York day—it’s quick, effective, and gives that instant “put together” feeling in seconds. I love that it’s not complicated, just one simple step that hydrates, smooths, and adds a soft, healthy glow. It fits perfectly into those in-between moments—running between meetings, sitting in the car, or right before walking into something important. It really reflects how I move through my day: I don’t have time for a full reset, but I can take a few seconds to do something small that makes me feel like myself again—and that small moment of care makes all the difference."

Q: What’s one small, unexpected part of using Danucera that instantly makes your day feel more elevated?
Elisa
: "One of the most unexpected things for me is how quickly it shifts my mindset. Even on a rushed day, taking a few seconds to use Danucera feels like a small pause—almost like a reset button in the middle of everything. It’s not time-consuming, but it creates this sense of care and intention that carries into the rest of my day. And I love that the bottles themselves feel like part of that ritual—they’re so clean and beautiful, they perfectly match my bathroom and look gorgeous on the counter. It’s such a small detail, but it makes the whole experience feel a little more elevated without any extra effort."

Q: What is the most “Elisa” uniquely personal way to use a Danucera product — not incorrectly, but in a totally personal, unofficial ritual way?

Elisa: "My most “Elisa” way of using Danucera is that it’s not just part of my routine—it’s part of my space. I’m very particular about my home and really don’t like clutter, but this is one of the few things I intentionally leave out on the counter. The white and gold packaging blends in perfectly and actually adds to the room rather than taking away from it. I love seeing it there—it feels elevated, but also serves as a quiet reminder to take a moment for myself, even on the busiest days."

Q: For women who are still finding their way, what have you learned about trusting yourself even when the path forward isn’t clear yet?
Elisa
: "I’ve learned that trusting yourself doesn’t come from having all the answers—it comes from being willing to take the next step, even when you don’t feel fully ready. There have been so many moments where the path wasn’t clear, and I had to move forward without certainty. Over time, I realized that clarity usually follows action, not the other way around.
