KHAITE Fashion Week 2024: Danucera Preps Models' Skin, Vogue Backstage Interview
New York Fashion Week has arrived, showcasing the latest in fashion innovation and beauty. Skincare has become an integral force backstage ensuring that the models faces are fresh, hydrated and the perfect canvas for makeup. This year, we had the honor of collaborating with KHAITE to take the models’ skin to the next level aligning it with KHAITE’s visionary designs. “Khaite has a very specific look– cool, easy, slightly tough and very New York,” hairstylist Guido Palau tells Vogue backstage at the show. Danucera Skincare was selected for its modern innovations and culmination of Danuta Mieloch's decades of hands-on experience.
In Vogue's latest feature, “KHAITE Has Perfected Modern New York Glam”, Murden reveals “it’s no surprise Khaite tapped Danucera— the brainchild of acclaimed aesthetician and founder of Rescue Spa Danuta Mieloch– to refresh models’ skin ahead of the runway”. Read on to discover how our standout products – Cerabalm, D22 Tonic, Iconic Eye, Mega Serum and Cream Supreme were essential in achieving that cool, easy, slightly tough and very New York runway look.
Q: What inspired Danucera to collaborate with KHAITE this 2024 NYFW season?
A: Danucera’s partnership with KHAITE felt like a natural alignment for this season. Both brands celebrate a timeless and effortless beauty. KHAITE’s designs are about understated luxury, and at Danucera, we believe that skincare should enhance natural beauty in a simple, results-driven way. This collaboration allows us to bring that philosophy to life in a high-fashion environment, ensuring every model's skin reflects that same sophistication and elegance.
Q: Which Danucera products are being used in the show and what is the step-by-step application for the skin prep for each model?
A: For this show, we're focusing on prepping the models' skin with a combination of our hero products for a radiant, healthy glow. Here’s our step-by-step prep:
- Cerabalm: We start with Cerabalm for a double cleanse, massaging it in to melt away any impurities and leave the skin hydrated and plump. With the taxing schedule of a runway model and lots of time spent traveling, a proper cleanse is crucial.
- D22 Tonic: We follow with the D22 Tonic to refresh and rebalance the skin, creating the perfect base for makeup. This innovative toner is renowned for its ability to gently exfoliate, balance the skin’s pH, minimize redness and promote a healthy, glowing complexion.
- Mega Serum: A layer of Mega Serum is applied for deep hydration and to lock in moisture.
- Iconic Eye: We used a pea-sized amount of Iconic Eye on the eye contour, focusing on brightening, depuffing and lifting the upper eyelid. We focused on massaging the eye contour with the metal tip for added depuffing benefits.
- Cream Supreme Moisturizer: Finally, we finish with Cream Supreme Moisturizer to seal everything in and give the models a glowing, dewy finish that will last all day.
Q: What is the one product you must have backstage at fashion week?
A: Without a doubt, Cerabalm is my must-have backstage. It’s incredibly versatile—whether for cleansing, moisturizing, or even as a quick fix for dry patches. It gives the skin a nourished, fresh look instantly, which is exactly what we need backstage for quick touch-ups. Cerabalm can be mixed with concealer, or foundation to give an instant glow as well!
Q: Cerabalm is recognized as the brand’s hero product, please tell me more about the product, usage, and how it was incorporated into today’s show.
A: Cerabalm is the cornerstone of Danucera because of its multi-functional benefits. It acts as a cleansing balm, moisturizer, and skin soother all in one. Its rich, nourishing formula deeply hydrates and soothes the skin, making it perfect for both prepping the skin and giving it a luminous, healthy glow on the runway. Today, it was used as the base for every model’s skincare routine, ensuring their skin looked its best before makeup.
“The brand’s hero, Cerabalm, was the most integral part of skin prep—serving as the ultimate multitasker. “It acts as a cleansing balm, moisturizer, and skin soother all in one,” Mieloch says. “Its rich, nourishing formula deeply hydrates and soothes the skin, making it perfect for both prepping the skin and giving it a luminous, healthy glow on the runway.” – Kiana Murden, Vogue
Q: What skincare regimen, products, tools, etc., do you recommend for models to prep their skin heading into NYFW?
A: Prepping for NYFW requires a solid skincare regimen. I recommend starting with a double cleanse using Cerabalm to remove makeup and impurities. Follow up with the D22 Tonic to balance and tone the skin. Using a Master Mask is a great way to nourish and hydrate deeply. Finally, apply Mega Serum and Cream Supreme Moisturizer to ensure the skin stays plump and radiant. For tools, I suggest using Sculpting Stone to boost circulation and de-puff the skin.
Q: What inspired you to create the Danucera line?
A: Danucera was born from my passion for effective, results-oriented skincare. As a long-time spa owner and skincare expert, I saw firsthand what worked and what didn’t for my clients. I wanted to create a line that was both luxurious and clean, offering products that deliver visible results without compromising on quality or purity.Danucera Method focuses on pairing great products with techniques and application methods. It's not enough to have a product, one should know how to use it!
Q: Is there anything in the works for Danucera in the upcoming months?
A: Yes, there are some exciting developments on the horizon! We are expanding the line with a few new product launches that focus on anti-aging and skin renewal. We're also planning more collaborations and pop-up events to bring the Danucera experience to more people. Stay tuned!
